Kent and I were lucky enough to get away for 4 days last weekend! It was heaven!!
We drove from home to Springdale, just outside of Zion's National Park. We stayed in an amazing hotel that was definitely worth the price!
Obviously we liked the food since we went back a second time!
Our first day in the park:
Our first "hike" was along the west bank of the Virgin River:
We ended up at Zion's Lodge where we crossed the river and then stopped and ate our lunch.
After lunch we went back across the bridge and continued our "hike" to the Emerald Pools
The last park of the walk took us to "The Grotto" where we picked up the shuttle back to our car.

The first and third night we ate at Pizza & Noodles. Thai pizza one night and delicious pasta the other - both with salad!

For those who don't know, you can't drive through the park anymore - you park and take their shuttle:

This amazing flower is called a Sacred Dentura. [Sacred because of its hallucinogenic properties!]
We ended up at Zion's Lodge where we crossed the river and then stopped and ate our lunch.

The last park of the walk took us to "The Grotto" where we picked up the shuttle back to our car.

After a lovely night's sleep we headed off the next morning for another "hike". We walked up the Narrows as far as the path went.

The rest of the day was a nice drive and look out points - and lunch:

Dinner that night was at a place called Me Me's. I couldn't quite figure it out.
They had French paintings on the walls
But the booths, food, and the music were 50s style!
The food was really good, so I'm not complaining, just confused! :)

Back to the hotel for another night of good sleep. The last day was Sunday. We went to Kolob canyon and hiked the Timber Creek Overlook.
Then we changed our clothes, drove into Cedar City and went to a Sacrament meeting. The drive home was uneventful and a bit sad. We weren't quite ready for the trip to be over!!
How blessed we are to live so close to so much beauty.
fun! you guys are so cute. what a bummer that you can't drive up the canyon anymore! :( You used to be able to drive up after Oct. 8th or somehwere around there.
