Kent and I had the opportunity to go on a tour of the Holy Land. The Cruise Lady had 3 bus loads and needed a scholar for each bus. Dan Peterson, Jack Welch, and Kent were the 3.
The tourists were donors to the BYU Marriott School of Business (NAC). We left on Monday, May 28th and returned on Sunday, June 9th.
Kent is ready to travel:
Our first two days were spent in the Tel Aviv area. We stayed in the Ritz Carlton. Here are a few pictures of our view:
We arrived in Tel Aviv and were met by one of our guides and taken to our hotel. We took a walk along the pier and then went to bed.
The next morning/day the tour provided buses for any who wanted to spend time in Jaffa
We went to the Church of St. Peter:
It commemorates Peter's vision where he is told to now eat animals previously considered unclean.

On Thursday, May 30 we checked out of the hotel and drove north to the Galilee area. Our first stop was Caesarea and the aquaducts.

Our lunch stop was at a Druze Restaurant. The Druze originated as an offshoot of Shia Islam. But, they are generally not considered to be Muslims. They have different beliefs from anyone else, including secret beliefs.

After lunch we went to Mt Carmel where Elijah challenged the priests of Baal to call down fire and burn their offerings. Elijah won:
There was a lovely garden there:
We made a short stop at the Haifa Cemetery - one of Kent's favorite places. There are a few Latter Day Saints buried there, including Adolph Haag who served a mission in Haifa and died before completing it. Kent published a book of Brother Haag's journals and letters home.
On our way out of Haifa, we drove by the Ba' Hai gardens:

The end of the day brought us to our VERY extravagant hotel - the Setai:
Pretty nice way to end day 3.
