Almost over Northwest trip

Day 9 - July 16:

Our goal today was to drive from Astoria to Yachats and enjoy the sights along the way. And what sights we saw!!!! We stopped at a place called Cannon Beach. It was chilly but so beautiful. We walked for maybe a mile, snapping pictures and watching the mist come in and out along the beach.

Our next major stop was at Cape Meares. Here we had lunch and took a hike through beautiful forests on the way to a lighthouse.

This little guy was right next to our lunch table, munching on roots or something:

More walking through the woods

Coming out to a view of the ocean:

There was also a short path to  . . . . . The Octopus Tree:

When we got to Newport, we visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It was quite amazing and a nicely put together. We sort of gasped at the price - $20 each - but it was vacation. :)

This is a JUVENILE Japanese Spider Crab - I'd hate to see Daddy!!!!

That night we stayed in Yachats, Oregon at the Rock Park Cottages. We heard about this place from our friends the Alders who go there every year. After our 2-day stay I understand why you guys love it so!!!! Thanks for the advise. :)

We had dinner at the Drift Inn. Really good food and a fun atmosphere/decor:
